Description: A response to a previous issue of the Royal Geographical Society's Journal containing an article on the Pibor River. The Pibor River, also called the River Pibor, is a river in Eastern South Sudan, which defines part of South Sudan's border with Ethiopia. From its source near Pibor Post it flows north for about 320 kilometres (200 mi), joining the Baro River to form the Sobat River, which is a tributary of the White Nile.

Description: January 21 1938. Juba, Sudan: This Bari village (same as 4) is constructed with a stockade and the houses appear to be divided equally between grain storage bins elevated on stilts and living quarters. The river bottom, while dry, has ground water at a depth of about three feet and the women wash their clothes in this as well as using it for drinking water. Curious people, staring up at the airplane, can easily be seen in this picture. We had visited the village by motorcar, about an hour before this was taken, and have pictures also of life on the ground. Low oblique. 09:10.

They number about 40,000 and speak Bviri, one of the Ubangian languages. The Balanda Bviri live in both Western Equatoria (Tambura, Nagero, Mopoi, Yangiri, Nadiangere, Kobir Bawo) and Western Bahar El Ghazal (Bazia, Bagari and Dem Zubier).

Description: The Bisharin is an ethnic group that lives in the middle of the western coast of the Red Sea, in and around Halayeb and Shalateen. It consists of a group of ancient tribes. The Basharians are one of the main sections of the Beja ethnic group. They inhabit the eastern end of the Nubian Desert in northern Sudan and southern Egypt, in the Utbay region between the Nile and the Red Sea, north of Ammar and south of Ababda. They number 60,500 people, most of them are in Sudan.
