Description: Manuscript copy entitled Lawāmiʿ al-asrār fī sharḥ maṭāliʿ al-anwār [The Blazing Secrets in commenting upon the Maṭāliʿ al-anwār], a gloss on Maṭāliʿ al-anwār [The Dawning of Lights] by Sirāj al-Dīn Maḥmūd al-Urmawī (d. 1283). Both the gloss and the original text were very influential in the development of logic (manṭiq).

Description: Manuscript copy of the gloss by ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Sharbīnī (d. 1908), the shaykh of al-Azhar between 1905 and 1907, of al-Sharḥ al-muṭawwal [The Detailed Gloss] by Saʿad al-Dīn al-Taftāzānī (1322-1390), itself a commentary of the Mukhtaṣar al-maʿānī [The Compendium of the Meanings] by Jalāl al-Dīn al-Qazwīnī (1203-1283), which in turn was a commentary of Miftāḥ al-ʿulūm [The Key of the Sciences] by Abū Yaʿqūb Yūsuf b. Abī Bakr al-Sakkakī (1160-1229). Al-Taftāzānī’s work was central in the study of Arabic rhetoric in Islamic institutions of higher learning. Owner :ʿAbd al-Salām al-ʿAbīd
