Description: Mrs. Fatima Ahmed Ibrahim was the first woman to be elected to parliament, and becoming the first female parliamentary deputy in the Middle East in 1965. She is most famous for being a human rights activist, she created the first women's organization in 1952 and also founded the 'Voice of Women' newspaper in 1954. She is the widow of Sudanese militant Al-Shafee Ahmed Al-Sheikh whom was executed by President Nimeiri and the sister of the famous Sudanese poet Salah Ahmed Ibrahim.
