The recording has been cut down into audio clips of varying lengths, including a longer segment in which Griselda talks about meeting and marrying Professor Abdallah, her first visit to Sudan and life at Bakht al-Rida in the 1950s, the couple’s work postings to Nigeria and Morocco in the 60s and 70s, Professor Abdallah’s awards and his final days living with the effects of a stroke in the 2000s. Several of the audio clips refer to specific groups of images available to view in Griselda’s collection included in Sudan Memory.

The previous year, the couple had driven to Yugoslavia wanting to ship the car from there to Cairo, and then drive to Khartoum but were not able to because of a problem with the paperwork. So instead they drove to Athens where they put the car in storage. The following year Griselda's parents came to Athens by train and joined the couple who drove the car up through Yugoslavia and across to Corfu by ferry and then up through Italy and France to Brittany.
